GRASP (Green Run-amok Shooter Project), a Chinese multiplayer gaming company, released a game originally called "Forbidden City", but then changed its name to BloodRayne (BR), and is referred to as that. The game was released on December 14, 2007 in China, however, it was only released in Japan in June 2008. The Japanese version was fully translated. The word BloodRayne is transcribed as "Blood Rayne Bikuang" in Chinese. "Blood Rayne" was the title of the game in the original Japanese version. The name has more meaning from the game. The Japanese release included an FMV drama set in ancient China, available for download. BloodRayne included various weapons from previous games in the series, and gameplay modes included deathmatch, team deathmatch, objective mode, and various game modes. While the graphics and gameplay were not changed from GRASP's previous title, BloodRayne was one of the first foreign games to get a full English translation. The game also gained popularity among fans of the series (particularly in Japan) when it was included among the best of Tokyo Game Show 2006. Despite the great success both the original Japanese version and the English release had, BloodRayne was the last game in the series produced by GRASP before the studio went bankrupt.
This game features a story mode of advanced difficulty (reliant on level design and enemy placement) and allows the player to customise their character and choose which paths to take. Although players with an online connection can achieve a "perfect" playthrough, the game does not allow players to enjoy the game modes with or without an online connection (e.g. Versus A.I. mode or Online Multiplayer mode).
A free to play online version of the game was released in February 2010. The game is set in a post-apocalyptic world, where surviving has become a game of snipers and stealth. No items are required to begin either multiplayer or campaign play. The game includes three modes: single player, police, and MP (multiplayer). Like the standard game, this one is also available for both the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3. In February 2012, the Open Beta version became available. d2c66b5586
