The Ford GT is based on the Ford Modular Cylinder Head engine, first produced in 1986, which became the basis of the M11/53 V8 engine in the Ford Taurus SHO for 2005. In 2003, the Modular engine was also used for production of the Ford GT, first as a base for their new M710/5.4 Liter V8 and second as the M75/8.8 Liter V10 engine in the 2006 Shelby GT500 for the 2007 model year. Both engines were produced and sold only for 2005, the Ford GT's successor the Ford GT was introduced in 2010.
The Ford GT has been named most popular automotive design award at the Car of the Year event. The award was handed down in 2004 by Car of the Year magazine (known also the Car Designers Guild).
In 2000, Ford began pre-market research for a mid-engine concept. A report from September 2000 suggested that such a car could be made using the new modular cylinder head.At the 2003 North American International Auto Show, Ford demonstrated a 1995 GT-R concept car called the Ford Roller.
At the 2003 Detroit Motor Show, Ford released a concept car called the GT-R, the first preview of the next generation of their flagship GT engine. The car was later shown in the 2004 Hollywood Woodstock film, the GT-R was inspired by the Ford GT40, and the naming was a tribute to the racing debut of the GT in the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1966. Ford planned to build and sell only 100 GT-Rs and they were rumored to cost upwards of US$750,000 per unit. The GT-R was not intended to be produced beyond its homologation run period.
-I realize that the sounds are much better than the previous ones, but I don't know if they are the same as from tutorials from the old versions. -If I find something about it, will post an update.
