An inkjet printer is a printer that prints on paper using one mechanism or a set of any number of mechanisms. It is capable of producing a variety of consumer or business office products such as tickets, labels, logos, labels, and stickers and other business products. It is a common misconception that an inkjet printer is so-called "digital" printing, but the process involves no printing at all, the ink is applied to a piece of paper by means of an electrostaic or mechanical system and then it is pressed against the paper with the help of a rubber bar, an "inkjet" roller, or similar device, so the term "digital printer" is not completely accurate. Some of the inkjet printer mechanisms are slightly different, however, some are just a photocopier for home or office use. Photo quality is left to slower and higher priced in-house laser copiers and printers, but inkjet printers can in many cases provide the quality of a flatbed office copier and, if a large enough paper is used (for example, paper path equivalent to what a flatbed office copier has), can print from standard business cartfed paper stock. As used in computing, an inkjet printing process may be referred to as "additive process printing" in contrast to the subtractive processes used in traditional lithography. An inkjet's printing mechanism separates the liquid ink from a larger reservoir of ink, called the "ink tank." The liquid ink is sprayed out of tiny nozzles behind a small flat head, usually mounted on a carriage. These devices are the most economical option available to print at the everyday office and home office cost. A printhead attached with a plain sheet of paper is pushed over the paper at an appropriate speed. Once the ink drops touch the paper, it absorbs the printed liquid ink. A thermal printhead is a device that uses an array of tiny heater elements to create heat and vaporize tiny bubbles of thermal ink in an ink-filled chamber. Despite the fact that some inkjet printers have a color printing unit, all the manufacturers use this term for a mono printer. Inkjet printers may fall into the following categories of usage: home and office printers, industrial printers, graphic arts, document scanners, and quality photo printers. d2c66b5586
